Why Testing Your Display Refresh Rate Matters
Upgrading to a 144Hz, 240Hz, or 360Hz gaming monitor is one of the most effective hardware improvements for FPS gaming. High refresh rate screens update image frames far more frequently than standard 60Hz displays, delivering fluid motion tracking, reduced input lag, and smoother target acquisition in Valorant and CS2.
However, many gamers unknowingly plug in a high refresh rate monitor via HDMI without enabling 144Hz/240Hz in Windows Display Settings or GPU drivers, leaving their monitor stuck at 60Hz. Our browser-based Refresh Rate Test uses sub-millisecond requestAnimationFrame sync to measure your screen's true operating frequency.
Frame Time (ms) vs Refresh Rate (Hz)
Refresh rate (Hz) and frame time (ms) are inversely proportional (`Frame Time = 1000 / Hz`). A 60Hz display renders a new frame every 16.67ms. At 144Hz, frame time drops to 6.94ms. At 240Hz, it reaches 4.16ms, and at 540Hz, frames refresh every 1.85ms.
Frame Skipping & Motion Blur Diagnostics
Certain display overclocking profiles or cheap HDMI converters drop frames during high refresh operation. Our high-contrast motion bar makes frame skipping or visual ghosting easily detectable.
